Laura Farré Rozada is a pianist and mathematician specialising in contemporary music. She is currently based in London and studying for her Master of Music degree with Andrew Zolinsky at the Royal College of Music, where she is an RCM Patrons' Award Holder. She graduated from her studies at ESMUC (Catalonia College of Music) and UPC (Polytechnic University of Catalonia) with several First-Class Honours. In addition, she is highly interested in research and has written theses and articles on topics such as the existing links between mathematics and music, folklore in music and the piano repertoire from the 20th and the 21st centuries. Laura is also exceptionally passionate about working with composers.

Biography

Laura Farré Rozada is a pianist and mathematician specialising in contemporary music. She is currently based in London and studying for her Master of Music degree with Andrew Zolinsky at the Royal College of Music, where she is an RCM Patrons' Award Holder. She recently graduated from her Bachelor and Master piano studies with Jean-François Dichamp at ESMUC (Catalonia College of Music) and from her Bachelor in Mathematics at UPC (Polytechnic University of Catalonia), all of them with several First-Class Honours. Laura is highly interested in research and has written theses and articles on topics such as the existing links between mathematics and music, folklore in music and the piano repertoire from the 20th and 21st centuries. In addition, she has worked with composers including George Crumb, Michael Finnissy, Albert Sardà, Sergio Ramis, Pablo Carrascosa, Carlos Rojo and Lewis Coenen-Rowe. Laura has also premiered works by Philippe Manoury, Vladimir Djambazov, David Lang, Thierry Escaich, Ofer Ben-Amots, Joel Järventausta, Lara Poe, Stella Fiorenzoli, Dani López, Ákos Lustyik, Piyawat Louilarpprasert, Karim Younis, Benjamin Heim, Bronwen McVeigh and Patrick McGraw. Laura has performed as a soloist in Spain, France, Germany, Canada and the UK and has appeared on the national television channel France 3 and the Bulgarian National Radio. She has also performed with ensembles conducted by Timothy Lines, Thomas Foskett-Barnes and Matthew Hardy, and participated in several masterclasses with professors Stanislav Pochekin, Mikhail Voskresensky, Felix Gottlieb, Konrad Elser, Boris Berman, Dmitri Alexeev, Hortense Cartier-Bresson, Michel Béroff, Marie-Josèphe Jude, Andrew Haigh, Albert Tarakanov, Natasa Sarcevic, Marcel Baudet, Antoine Françoise, Karst de Jong, Kennedy Moretti and Nelly Ben-Or, among others. Due to her multiple interests and her training in other instruments, she has also engaged in several musical projects that involved her in arranging music for the Swedish choir Köörmit, singing in choir festivals in Germany, France and Russia, and performing and recording for bands from diverse musical genres. Laura was among the 25 performers selected to join the Waterloo Region Contemporary Music Sessions 2017 in Canada, and received a High Commendation from the jury (Mei Yi Foo and Tim Gill) for her performance at the RCM Contemporary Competition 2017. Future projects include the premiere of several works by Lewis Coenen-Rowe, Sergio Ramis, Nino Russell; and the release of her first solo album, "The French Reverie".
