Nora Braun, born in 1996, began to play the cello at the age of 8. She started her musical education at the Conservatory in Esch-sur-Alzette (Luxembourg) with André Navau and Jean Halsdorf. Since 2007, she has taken lessons with Claude Giampellegrini at the Conservatory of the city of Luxembourg. After 'Premier Prix' on the Cello, Piano and in Chamber music, she was admitted in 2010 at the "Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln" as a young student in the class of Prof. Claus Kanngiesser. Nora is a laureate of international competitions: she has won two 1st Prizes (2012 and 2014) at the International Cello Competition in Liezen (Austria), a 1st prize at the Bundeswettbewerb "JUGEND MUSIZIERT" 2011 (Germany), three gold medals at the European Competition for Young Soloists (Luxembourg), including two prix SACEM. In 2012, she was was attributed a scholarship by the Rotary Club Luxembourg-Kiem. As a soloist, Nora has appeared with orchestras such as the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, the Chamber Orchestra of Luxembourg, L'estro Armonico, the Luxembourgish Military Music and the Cologne WDR-Symphonieorchester. She has appeared in halls such as the Philharmonie de Luxembourg, the Philharmonie of Cologne, or the Beethovenhaus in Bonn. Chamber music partners have amongst others included Alena Baeva and Jean Muller Furthermore, Nora has participated in masterclasses with Gary Hoffman, Pierre Doumenge, David Grigorian, Jeroen Reuling, Didier Poskin, Mirel Iancovici, Boris Berman and Thomas Duis. Since September 2015, Nora studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Louise Hopkins.
